Gender Roles Are Learned From Home
One night, we’re busy doing school projects. As usual, I Wizheart and divide themselves into two of our children: my husband and Gabo; Rago and me.
The reason of the task is that much of the homework is usually Gabo Math. On Wizheart opportunity to stay out late for the meeting, I helped Gabo, of course. But always with a lot of effort on my part. In the case of my husband, a quick look at the problem, he already knew the solution to it.
Rago’s homeowork, on the other hand, most of the picture or crop the image as part of their learning Mathematics, Science, and Citizenship.
That is one of those nights when Rago and I’m cut out pictures and make them into “mobile animals.” Instruction is to describe the various types of animals in the cardboard, color them and cut them out. Then by using a rope, we had to string this cut-out animals on the hanger.
I’m in the process of crop an image, when Rago go, “You’re so good at cutting, Mama. Did you learn to cut the animal?”
Trying not to laugh at the question, I went, “No. But I’m older so I’ve learned how to do these things. When you get older, and have kids too, you will do this also. You will help children You do her job. ”
Rago said, “No, I’m not going. My wife will do it. Like you.”
This time, I laughed out loud. I can not help it. I just hugged and kissed her.
This incident makes me think that, yes, gender roles began at home. Where else can kids get their concept of gender roles, but right in their homes?
They learned that women and men perform certain tasks, and most often this task can not be exchanged. In most modern families, though, men and women engage in transfer duty. And so the children learn that there are tasks that men and women can and can not do.
Which brings us to the important part, which is carefully our children the right to show the role in order not to confuse them.
In our family, I want the children to learn that men and women are equally strong and that their strength does not only come from the tasks that they can or can not do it.
